Today we are going to be talking about one of the most special ones: “La Canchánchara”.<h2>Origin.</h2>Canchanchara is a traditional Cuban cocktail that originated in the late 19th century. It was created at the central part of the island, specifically in Trinidad. At the end of this post, you will find the recipe but basically it is made with rum, honey, lime juice, and water. The drink is believed to have been created by Cuban revolutionaries (Mambises) during the Ten Years' War (1868-1878) against Spanish colonial rule. Due to the sensation of freshness that is felt when consuming it, this cocktail quickly spread to the entire island full of hot temperatures, becoming one of the most popular in the country.<h3>Its name. </h3>The name "canchánchara" is not clear for the researchers and scientists interested on this topic but it is thought to come from the Spanish word "chanchanarra," which refers to a type of roasted pig dish. Another suggestion is that some believe the name may also be derived from the Taíno indigenous language and refer to a type of fruit or plant. The design is by the Italian engineer Battista Antonelli (1547–1616). Originally under the control of Spain, the fortress was captured by the British in 1762, returned to Spain under the Treaty of Paris (1763) a year later. The Morro Castle was the main defense in the Havana harbor until La Cabaña was completed in 1774. 4. National Capitol Building (Capitolio Nacional): "El Capitolio" is 207 meters long and 91 meters wide. Although its design is often compared to the United States Capitol, it is not a replica. "It is similar to that in Washington D.C, but a meter higher, a meter deeper and a meter longer, as well as much richer in detail. To finish its construction they needed more than 5000 workers, 3 years, 3 months and 20 days; as well as approximately 17 million American dollars". Completed in 1929, it was the tallest building in Havana until the 1950s. It houses the world's third largest indoor statue. 5. Revolution Square (Plaza de la Revolución): This project was conceived as part of the wave of architectural and infrastructure works carried out by the government of Fulgencio Batista. The Plaza Cívica as was originally called was built during the decade of the 1950s and was part of an old and ambitious project that sought to make the Plaza Cívica the center of the city's road circulation of four avenues that would link the cardinal points of the city starting from it. The square and the memorial were completed in 1959. It was originally called Plaza Cívica. An elevator allows access to the top of the memorial, at 109 m one of the tallest points in the city.
